James Street
Homes of real architectural diversity, wide, broad lots, proximity to commuter alley, lovely little Locke Street Shops, and James South Restaurants all make Durand a beautiful neighbourhood.
Durand is always at the forefront; highest prices, most amenities, visually stunning. Like Toronto’s High Park or Rosedale. It’s also one of Hamilton’s highest income/household neighbourhoods. You can possibly sneak into a co-op one-bedroom apartment (financing super difficult to obtain) in the Durand at around $150K.
A couple of older, 1970’s built condo buildings offer a lot of space and modest prices. Prices start at the unbelievable $200/sq. ft. and you can expect to find units well over 1,000 sq. ft.
A new development on City Square is selling condos for around the 500$/sq.ft. mark. Chateau Royal @ 135 James Street South, built way before its time, sells for about HALF that! A one thousand sq. ft., two bedroom unit just sold for $250,000. That sounds like a great investment!
